Kings College Hospital is a leading healthcare provider seeking a highly skilled Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. As a rotational post, you will have the opportunity to work across various adult inpatient rotations, providing specialist services to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Clinical Responsibilities
- To manage an autonomous caseload within the allocated team, including assessment, contribution to differential diagnosis, and specialist SLT management for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
- To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to negotiate appropriate therapy packages, length of stay, and discharge arrangements.
- To liaise regularly with relevant hospital and community therapy teams.
- To attend relevant MDT and Speech and Language Therapy team meetings.
- To provide accurate and timely statistical data.
- Education and Training
- To participate in nurse dysphagia screen training programme run by the SLT department.
- To take part in the clinical training for SLT students as agreed and appropriate.
- To participate in the SLT Department in-service training programme.
- To pursue an active programme of continuing professional development.
- Governance / Quality Control
- To maintain and record an active programme of continuing professional development.
- To undertake specific departmental audit projects and contribute to departmental research where appropriate.
- Qualification
- BSc or recognised postgraduate MSc or diploma in speech and language therapy.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Postgraduate training in communication disorders and aphasia therapy.
- Member of RCSLT.
- Supervision Course.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Established experience with adult acquired and neurological disorders in an acute setting, including managing your own caseload and using a range of assessment and therapy techniques.
- Experience of working in a rehab setting.
- Experience of student supervision and training.
- Demonstrate ability to carry out relevant projects.
