Choral Music Accompanist

Position Overview

The Michigan School Public Relations Association is in search of a skilled Choral Music Accompanist to join our educational team. We value candidates who are not only talented but also possess a friendly demeanor and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Proficient in piano, with the ability to sight-read and perform multiple-part choral pieces; must demonstrate musicality in accompaniment and occasionally improvise.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel between designated school buildings as required.
• Perform at all scheduled choir events, including:
  • Seasonal concerts (evening performances)
  • Special assemblies as needed (during school hours)
• Accompany choirs during regular rehearsals and performances.
• Conduct sectional rehearsals.
• Lead warm-up exercises in the absence of the choir director.
• Provide individual or small group coaching for special performances.
• Assist the choir director with daily administrative tasks, including attendance, form collection, grading, and music organization.
• Support classroom setup and cleanup for rehearsals.

Administrative Duties

Assist the choir director with routine tasks, ensuring smooth operations within the choir program.

Reports To: Choir Director and School Administrators

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Work Schedule: Part-time hours with a structured daily routine
