Orthodontic Specialist

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and lead aspects of the Orthodontics service within the NHS Lothian Oral Health Service.
  • Work collaboratively with other specialty arms of the Oral Health Service, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and with close liaison with medical and primary care colleagues when required.
  • Be responsible for providing high-quality orthodontic care to patients.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans to meet the needs of patients.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthodontic care and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary working to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration.
  • A license to practise.
  • Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
  • Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
  • Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) post based in Lauriston Building.

The post holder will be responsible to Mr Graeme Wright, Clinical Director of the Oral Health Service.

The appointee will be involved in multidisciplinary working with other specialty arms of the Oral Health Service, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and with close liaison with medical and primary care colleagues when required.

The post holder may be required to work across NHS Lothian at sites within the remit of the Oral Health Service.
