About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Assistant to join our team at Wetheringsett Manor School, a new independent day SEMH School for up to 42 pupils aged 11-18.

As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting and promoting a positive, caring environment that focuses on the needs of each individual pupil or young person.

Your primary responsibility will be to guide all staff in the support approaches most successful for the inclusion of young people in the classroom, ensuring continuous learning during learning phases.

You will also provide direct support to young people in crisis and who require additional care throughout the school day, overseeing and contributing to the wider planning around the holistic development of young people in the long term.

Working closely with the Head of Behaviour and Welfare, you will implement strategies, processes, and approaches that align with the school's ethos.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and practices reflect the school's commitment to the importance and value of the individual, challenging and changing any discriminatory or prejudicial policies or practices.
  • Ensure that all pupils and young people are treated with dignity and respect in an environment that reflects their right to be treated as valuable, worthwhile individuals.
  • Take every step necessary to ensure that our pupils and young people are protected from neglect, abuse, and exploitation.
  • Support class teachers by assisting in classroom management and providing basic supervision and day care skills, as needed.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individual educational and behavioural programmes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of your work.
