About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our crisis intervention team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice Management
    • Undertake comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with service users.
    • Implement evidence-based interventions and evaluate their effectiveness in partnership with users.
    • Administer medication in accordance with Trust and legislative guidelines.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies for individuals presenting with mental health problems.
  • Teaching, Education & Health Promotion
    • Provide mentoring opportunities for staff within designated areas and promote positive attitudes towards mental health.
    • Support the provision of a learning environment for pre- and post-registered students, novice practitioners, and new team members.
  • Continuing Professional Development
    • Maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure practice reflects best practice and remains evidence-based.
    • Abide by legal rules, statutory regulations, and professional responsibilities relating to practice.
  • Finance and Workforce
    • Make best use of available workforce resources based on agreed staffing models to ensure provision of best care possible.
    • Participate in education and training opportunities.
  • Record Keeping and Administration
    • Maintain standards of record keeping and associated administration in accordance with AWP Trust Policy and local joint arrangements.
    • Ensure the safety of clients and staff within the unit and fulfill legal obligations.
  • Evidence-Based Nursing, Practice Development & Clinical Audit
    • Contribute to practice development activity and evidence-based mental health nursing.
    • Work within the framework of AWP and Department of Health Research Governance.
  • Professional Nursing Advice
    • Contribute to providing professional nursing advice within the post-holder's area of responsibility and span of knowledge.
