Are you ready to embrace a rewarding role? Do you have a passion for supporting children and their families in achieving meaningful results? We are thrilled to present an opportunity to join our Family Residential Centre as a Senior Residential Support Worker on a full-time permanent basis.
Position Overview: Join us in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, where you will play a vital role in our mission.
Service Insight: As the largest children's charity in the UK, Barnardo's is embarking on an innovative partnership with Leicestershire County Council to establish a variety of children's homes dedicated to the most vulnerable children and young people in the region.
Welland House features three self-contained apartments, accommodating up to three families simultaneously. The families we serve may include parents with varying levels of learning needs, those facing challenges related to domestic violence, or issues with substance misuse. They may also have encountered mental health challenges or trauma. Throughout their stay, our dedicated staff will provide support to parents in their parenting journey while being assessed by the local children's services.
Our team at Welland House is committed to a supportive approach, focusing on promoting best practices through guidance, role modeling, key work sessions, and practical advice regarding concerns, safety, routines, and boundaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster trust and develop nurturing relationships that enhance the service user's independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities.
- Collaborate and build relationships with parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Lead and mentor Residential Support Workers in their daily responsibilities.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the home, including cooking and cleaning.
- Accurately document information and ensure records are consistently updated.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Promote, monitor, and maintain a safe environment for all.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare is required, or a commitment to complete this within the specified timeframe.
- A minimum of one year of supervisory and shift leader experience in a family support setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
While Welland House will be your primary location, flexibility to travel to support our other homes as needed is essential.
When submitting your application, please highlight your skills, knowledge, and experience in relation to the Person Specification and Job Description.
Pay & Reward Framework:
At Barnardo's, we recognize the dedication of our colleagues in delivering essential services. Our commitment to a fair and progressive pay and reward system, introduced in April 2023, reflects our strategy to support our team members in their professional journey.
We aim to offer starting salaries within the minimum to mid-point of the pay band, ensuring annual pay steps are available to reward contributions to excellence and alignment with our values. More details on our pay framework will be provided upon application.
Benefits:
Our approach to work has evolved, and we understand the importance of flexibility and empowerment in the workplace. We are open to discussing various working arrangements that suit our colleagues.
