About the Position:

Teaching Personnel is in search of a passionate and innovative Art Teacher for this dynamic secondary institution. This temporary teaching role presents the chance to engage learners across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities at Key Stage 5 for a qualified candidate. The position entails delivering captivating lessons in diverse artistic mediums, nurturing creativity, and instilling a love for the arts. The ability to instruct in Design Technology would be an additional asset. The successful applicant will collaborate with a team of dedicated subject experts in a forward-thinking and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver High-Quality Art Education: Design and implement engaging and creative lessons in art and design across KS3 and KS4, with possible involvement at KS5.
  • Adaptability: Quickly adjust to various classroom settings and teaching resources, maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Classroom Management: Ensure a safe and productive learning environment by upholding discipline and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Student Support: Identify and address individual student needs, customizing teaching strategies to support diverse learning abilities and backgrounds.
  • Assessment: Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on students' work and progress.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with school staff, including teaching assistants and fellow educators, to provide a cohesive educational experience.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Candidates must possess QTS or an equivalent qualification recognized in the UK.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience in a secondary school environment, particularly in art and design, is highly desirable. Experience in Design Technology is beneficial.
  • Subject Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding and skills in teaching various art forms and techniques.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work across different schools in the area, sometimes on short notice.
  • DBS Clearance: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, or willingness to undergo one.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Passion for Art: A genuine enthusiasm for inspiring and educating young people in the visual arts.
