Role Overview

Industry: Food Production / Automated Logistics

As an Automation Controls Specialist, you will be pivotal in the design, implementation, and commissioning of advanced Control Systems for Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS). This innovative food enterprise is at the forefront of food processing technology, catering to prominent retailers across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of highly automated solutions, focusing on both software and hardware aspects.
  • Write and refine PLC program logic, contributing to the establishment of a premier software development roadmap.
  • Conduct simulation modeling to validate code functionality prior to deployment, utilizing available digitalization tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the Controls Engineering Manager to assist in software roadmap development and cost estimation for control panels, site wiring, and PLC development.
  • Oversee project timelines for both software and hardware, ensuring designs are efficient, cost-effective, and easily manufacturable.
  • Participate in project review meetings, both internally and with clients.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a controls engineer in a complex Mechanical & Electrical design environment, such as food processing, automation, data centers, automated warehousing, or logistics automation.
  • A thorough understanding of industrial design, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to write and modify PLC code.
  • Experience in automated warehouse systems or FMCG logistics, particularly with conveyor systems, is advantageous.
