About the Role:
The Great Western Railway (GWR) is seeking a skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Gateline Assistant. As a key member of our stations team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our passengers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high level of service to customers, providing assistance and information as needed
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the automatic ticket barriers, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently
- Ensure customer security and respond to customer enquiries in a professional and courteous manner
- Inspect and issue tickets, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Address customer needs in times of service disruption, providing clear and concise information and support
- Ensure the professional appearance of the gateline area, clearing rubbish and maintaining customer walkways
Requirements:
- Able to deliver exceptional front-line customer service, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Confident in decision-making, with the ability to remain calm and directive in crisis situations
- Able to work to strict procedures, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
Working Arrangements:
This is a part-time role, contracted for 15 hours per week. The role requires shift working, including weekend and bank holidays, with shift times between 06:00 and 21:30, 7 days a week on a rolling roster pattern.
