About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a dynamic special educational needs school in Knowsley. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of learning difficulties, including severe and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering adapted lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with complex needs, helping them engage in learning activities and develop key life skills.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Offer personal care and emotional support to students, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
  • Support students during sensory activities, physical education sessions, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Promote independence, positive behaviour, and social interaction among pupils.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including therapists and external professionals, to ensure holistic support for each student.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) is essential.
  • A compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting students with a range of learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and a commitment to promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.
  • Ability to assist with personal care and physical needs of students as required.
