Job Overview:

The Groundworks Labourer will be a vital part of our Network Operations - Powercare team, contributing to essential infrastructure projects. This role is based in the London region and offers a permanent position within a dedicated team.

Compensation:

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £30,995, alongside a 1% bonus and a 19% shifted allowance amounting to £5,889 annually.

Role Responsibilities:

The primary function of this position is to work collaboratively as part of a two-person excavation team, executing excavation, backfill, and reinstatement tasks associated with faults, small service, and unmetered connections within the UK Power Networks distribution area.

Key Duties Include:

  • Ensuring adherence to all safety, health, and environmental protocols relevant to the role
  • Conducting risk assessments and maintaining safe working conditions
  • Utilizing handheld IT devices to receive job instructions and document site information
  • Ensuring the quality of work aligns with established procedures
  • Meeting guaranteed service standards in all tasks
  • Safeguarding the security of vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Being adaptable to undertake additional responsibilities as required
  • Representing UK Power Networks with professionalism

Work Environment:

This role involves traveling across the operational footprint of UK Power Networks and participating in an out-of-hours standby rota, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • NRSWA Units
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • CSCS Operatives card
  • Emergency First Aid qualification
  • Banksman qualification

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the electricity network sector
  • Plant Operator qualification (mini excavator)
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety culture
