About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Innovate. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and development of embedded software and Windows-based user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Application Development: Oversee the entire software application development process, including idea generation, detailed design, and coding.
  • Motion Control Software: Create and develop motion control software and algorithms.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers as a team to ensure project success.
  • Software Maintenance: Monitor and address any software-related issues and needs.
  • Software Quality: Develop reliable software, focusing on application health, fault reporting, and problem management.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain relevant supporting documents.
  • Client Support: Assist clients with integration, commissioning, and problem-solving tasks, occasionally on-site.
  • Technical Requirements: Understand the technical requirements and operational concept of the customer and incorporate them into the broader project requirements.
  • Project Management: Oversee meetings for technical software reviews and reporting status, including project reporting and work package estimates.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate closely with the project manager, technical authority, and quality team to identify risks, problems, solutions, and opportunities.
  • Communication: Ensure that important updates and actions are shared with the relevant engineering team members.
  • Project Planning: Provide technical assistance to the project manager to create and manage the project plan and monthly project review packs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Excellent degree in a relevant field.
  • Software Engineering: Solid understanding of software engineering concepts.
  • Embedded Software Design: Experience in embedded software design and a solid general understanding of related hardware.
  • Coding Skills: Experience in writing C/C++ code for embedded applications.
  • Digital Signal Processing: Experience in digital signal processing.
  • Security Clearance: British national with required security clearance.

Desirable Skills:

  • Analogue Interfacing: Experience with analogue interfacing, including ADC/DACs.
  • Source Control: Familiarity with source control, particularly SVN and GIT/Bitbucket.
  • Project Management Tools: Experience with Jira and Confluence for software requirements and task capture.
  • Control Systems: Experience in designing and developing control systems, preferably with motor control principles and theory and interfaces.
