Role Responsibilities:

As a Fleet Technical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engineering solutions that align with the Partnership's transport requirements. This position is ideal for professionals with a technical background in fleet management or workshop environments seeking career advancement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Vehicle Engineering Manager:
    • Identifying operational vehicle requirements.
    • Developing and managing vehicle specifications to ensure productivity, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulations.
  • Liaising with Manufacturers:
    • Evaluating vehicle manufacturers' offerings and compiling a list of approved suppliers and models.
    • Ensuring compliance of manufacturers with established specifications.
  • Ensuring Vehicle Compliance and Delivery:
    • Verifying that new vehicles meet legal and health & safety standards.
    • Collaborating with CV Operations and Procurement to ensure timely delivery of vehicles according to specifications.
  • Fleet Development:
    • Keeping abreast of advancements in vehicle materials and equipment.
    • Analyzing data related to maintenance, total vehicle costs, and fuel efficiency.
  • Managing Vehicle Livery and Systems:
    • Designing vehicle livery in accordance with marketing and regulatory standards.
    • Overseeing telematics, fuel monitoring systems, and bulk fuel infrastructure.
    • Preventing environmental incidents and fuel theft.
    • Maintaining fuel management systems to meet legal and operational standards.
  • Infrastructure Oversight:
    • Supervising automated truck washing systems and vehicle weighing equipment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in vehicle repair and maintenance (NVQ 3, BTec, HNC, HND or equivalent).
  • Experience in fleet management, road transport, or workshop settings, particularly in a technical capacity.
  • Proficiency in standard PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent).

Preferred Skills:

  • Transport Manager CPC in Road Haulage.
  • Familiarity with project management and procurement processes.
