Job Title: Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Occupational Health Service, you will play a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on occupational health matters, including the assessment of employee fitness to work, protection of employee health at work, and promotion of employee health at work. You will also be responsible for supporting individuals with disabilities in both gaining and sustaining employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of employee fitness to work, including the discussion and processing of complex and sensitive information.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on occupational health matters, including the organisation and undertaking of vaccination clinics, vision screening programmes, and workplace risk assessments.
  • Represent the Occupational Health Service at committees, working groups, and site visits, and plan, organise, and undertake training.
  • Coordinate occupational health activities with other health, safety, and welfare services utilised by the employer and employee.
  • Plan and undertake specific screening programmes, health and wellbeing project work, and ad hoc occupational health training activity as directed by the OH service manager and/or requested by the contract managers.
  • Support individuals with disabilities in both gaining and sustaining employment through the provision of specialised advice concerning fitness for work, phased return to work, and liaison with other health, safety, and welfare services.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Registered General Nurse qualification and an Occupational Health Nurse Certificate/Diploma or BSc in Occupational Health related subject.
  • Experience in the management of a caseload or customer contract, supervision, instruction, training, and support of OH nursing and administrative staff.
  • Knowledge of current UK recommendations on immunisations and communicable diseases management, and a knowledge and experience in using computers and programmes.
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written English to a standard commensurate with the post, and demonstrate a sound clinical judgement and communicate clearly the decision reached in keeping with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong work relations with colleagues, customers, and clients.
