Brighton, Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom Elysium Healthcare Full time

Overview

Join our dedicated team at Elysium Healthcare as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals facing eating disorders and related challenges. This position involves a commitment of 37.5 hours per week.

As a qualified professional with experience in the healthcare sector, you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload, establishing meaningful connections with young clients to understand their health concerns, dietary preferences, and personal goals. Your expertise will enable you to develop tailored nutrition plans that cater to their unique needs.

You will collaborate closely with the Dietitian Assistant and work in partnership with service users, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to foster both physical and nutritional recovery.

In your role, you will contribute to the overall service delivery by providing assessments, formulating treatment plans, and supporting families and caregivers. You will serve as a crucial liaison between the nursing staff, catering services, and the broader team, overseeing the management of dining arrangements and nutrition support initiatives.

Elysium Healthcare is engaged in a collaborative project aimed at enhancing knowledge around nutrition support in challenging circumstances. You will actively participate in this initiative, working alongside research professionals to implement findings and improve practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, taking into account risks, recovery stages, co-existing psychiatric and medical conditions, and cultural considerations. Conduct weekly progress reviews and provide feedback during multidisciplinary team meetings. Facilitate one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions to explore eating behaviors, beliefs about food, and factors influencing dietary choices. Provide mealtime assistance, acting as a key link between nursing staff, catering services, and the multidisciplinary team. Lead psychoeducation groups designed to help young individuals understand their eating disorders and critically assess their beliefs about food and body image. Offer family support sessions to help families navigate the complexities of food and health relationships. Participate in professional meetings with external organizations. Conduct pre-admission assessments for new referrals and outline plans for future interventions. Collaborate with the dietetic assistant and catering services to ensure menus, allergen information, and portion sizes are regularly updated.

Qualifications:

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). A Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or a postgraduate diploma in Dietetics. Relevant post-qualification training. Experience working with individuals with eating disorders, preferably in an inpatient environment. Understanding of the impact of eating disorders on young people and their families. While prior experience in eating disorders is preferred, we welcome applications from motivated professionals willing to pursue further training in this area.

Benefits:

Competitive annual salary based on experience. Welcome bonus. Generous annual leave entitlement, including bank holidays. Complimentary meals and parking. Access to wellbeing support and activities to promote a healthy work-life balance. Opportunities for career development and training. Pension contributions for future security. Life assurance for peace of mind. Enhanced maternity benefits.

In addition, enjoy a variety of other perks, including retail discounts and special offers.
