Position Overview

This opportunity is available within a Directorate of the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University.

The position offers a Grade 8 remuneration ranging from £45,585 to £56,021 annually on a Full-Time basis for a Fixed Term duration of 36 Months.

Required Qualifications encompass a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related disciplines, along with experience in molecular modeling and proficiency in Python programming. The successful applicant will engage in research initiatives, provide academic support, and explore development opportunities within the institution.

Key Duties
  • Oversee project simulations and manage data curation.
  • Maintain and promote code through GitHub.
  • Innovate project concepts and research proposals.
  • Contribute to educational activities and collaborate on scientific publications.
  • Offer guidance on computational resources and simulation methodologies.
  • Mentor junior colleagues.

Additional responsibilities may evolve as the role progresses.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • PhD or nearing completion in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated research outputs and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a laboratory environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with simulation software and machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
