Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Healthcare Professional to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Healthcare Assistants and Donor Care Supervisors, ensuring they are motivated, well-trained, and capable of delivering exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Healthcare Assistants and Donor Care Supervisors, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality care.
  • Assess potential donors to determine their suitability for blood donation, considering their medical history, current health status, and other relevant factors.
  • Make critical decisions that affect donor safety and the overall quality of the service, ensuring that the team delivers exceptional care.
  • Maintain professional development to help us deliver improvements to our practice, staying up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and understand the principles of best practice to deliver high-quality care, fostering a positive working environment and promoting a culture of continuous learning.
  • Support the professional development of others, providing guidance and mentorship to help them grow and develop in their roles.
  • Have an understanding of clinical audit and research, as well as patient safety initiatives and risk management.
  • Have experience of working with Information Technology, including hand-held devices and Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained) as Registered Nurse Adult.
  • Hold a full and valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points (check if applicable).
