Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and committed Educational Support Assistant to become a part of our Catch22 College team.

As an Educational Support Assistant, your key duties will include:

  • Assisting both individuals and groups of learners, ensuring they remain focused and complete tasks assigned by the instructor.
  • Addressing behavioral and special educational needs in collaboration with the instructor.
  • Implementing Special Educational Needs (SEN) interventions.
  • Aiding in the execution of lesson plans, objectives, and content alongside the instructor.
  • Offering constructive feedback to learners independently.
  • Conducting small group sessions for specific activities.
  • Taking charge of a full class during the instructor's absence.
  • Supporting challenging learners outside the classroom as a strategy for respite.
  • Supervising learners during breaks and lunchtime.
  • Collaborating with the instructor to communicate with parents regarding student progress.
  • Maintaining up-to-date learner files and records.

Required Qualifications

MANDATORY

  • A minimum of Level 2 Qualification in English and Mathematics.
  • Understanding of the legal obligations regarding health and safety, SEN, and child safeguarding.
  • Capability to work autonomously, with support from the instructor, with groups or individual learners.
  • Proficiency in managing challenging learners, recognizing their needs, and applying effective behavior management techniques as necessary.
  • Experience collaborating at an advanced level with the instructor in planning and delivering educational activities (including those outlined in Individual Education Plans).
  • Background in supporting children with Education Health Care Plans and Special Educational Needs, as well as language difficulties or other complex needs.
  • Commitment to enhancing the achievement levels of learners.
  • Ability to handle emotionally challenging situations.

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Level 3 Coaching Qualification.
  • Experience as an Educational Support Assistant in an alternative educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the curriculum, especially literacy and numeracy standards.
  • Evidence of successful engagement with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable learners.
