About the Role
The Nigel Wright Group is seeking a skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team on a 12-month contract. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities for our client, a leading manufacturer in the County Durham area.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of buyers to ensure efficient and effective procurement processes.
- Project manage the procurement of goods and services, including liaising with overseas manufacturing sites to ensure product specifications, quality, and local supply feasibility.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact for queries and issues.
- Collaborate with the material handling, production, stores, and supply chain teams to optimize inventory management and rightsizing.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in procurement, preferably in high-volume manufacturing, with experience in project procurement and NPI. You will be able to hit the ground running, working proactively and assertively to manage upwards and make decisions under pressure. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
