Job Description

Wood PLC is seeking a highly skilled Principal Instrumentation Specialist to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our instrumentation team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing control and instrumentation systems for our clients in the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with the Lead Instrument Engineer to review project schedules and ensure that all dates and project requirements are realistic.
  • Design and Development: Prepare project-specific standards and job notes, set up and operate DMS sections, and design and produce instrument drawings and deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop, review, and check instrument deliverables, including air distribution schedules, instrument cable block diagrams, and termination detail drawings.
  • Communication: Liaise with engineers and instrument designers to ensure design intent is implemented, and advise the Lead Instrument Engineer on any technical problems or unresolved differences with other disciplines.
  • Site Support: Perform site surveys and attend to site construction queries, and notify the Lead Instrument Engineer of any deficiencies in the flow of data or other basic information required for execution of work.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Be technically astute and conversant with the latest advances in technology, and have experience in a similar role within the contractor environment.
  • Documentation: Ability to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule.
  • Material Management: Understand and control Material Take Off.
  • Education and Experience: Prior experience reviewing Engineering Flow Diagrams and Piping Layouts and Models with reference to assigned equipment is essential.
