We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to cover maternity leave within our Upper Airways service, located at a prominent healthcare facility. This role involves a commitment of hours per week (WTE).
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in this specialized field, demonstrating the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Building positive therapeutic relationships with patients is essential, as is contributing to the ongoing development of the Upper Airways service.
The successful candidate will join a welcoming and experienced Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team. Our team operates across a diverse range of inpatient and outpatient settings, including Stroke, Neurosciences, Head and Neck Cancer, General Inpatients, Critical Care, and Voice/ENT workstreams. Collaboration with broader SLT services within the integrated care system is also a key aspect of this role.

Service Manager – Adult SaLT
Main Responsibilities
The post holder will serve as the clinical lead and highly specialized Speech and Language Therapist focusing on upper airway disorders. This role entails developing and implementing a service model that ensures evidence-based, effective, and efficient clinical care for the designated caseload.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Utilizing advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and manage a specialized caseload of adults experiencing upper airway disorders, including chronic refractory cough and Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction.
- Conducting a monthly videostroboscopy clinic to provide visual laryngeal assessments, treatment strategies, and biofeedback to patients, selecting appropriate interventions for effective therapy.
- Taking a leadership role in service advancements in this specialty area and overseeing service-wide initiatives as necessary.
- Providing expert advisory support for the Trust in this specialty, offering second opinions and guidance.
- Training and mentoring others in the management of upper airway disorders and related voice, ENT, and swallowing issues.
- Independently supervising students during clinical placements, including examination placements.
