The Role

We are seeking a skilled Field Maintenance Engineer to support the running of our new factory by resolving breakdowns, delivering maintenance, and driving improvements across the site and site services in terms of new machinery, hygiene, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Carry out all maintenance across site services and site facilities, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  2. Attend to breakdowns onsite, minimizing downtime of site plant and machinery.
  3. Carry out repairs to plant and equipment during production, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  4. Conduct daily checks on all site services, identifying potential issues before they become major problems.
  5. Ensure core facility and utilities services, such as steam boilers and associated pipework, air compressors, water treatment systems, CIP room checks, effluent plant, ammonia plant room, and other refrigeration systems, are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  6. Deliver on plant uptime and maintenance KPIs through planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  7. Verify that all chemical and bacterial checks/tests of cooling tower water are conducted as per internal schedules.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in a food industry setting.
  2. Multi-skilled with formal engineering qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or higher, in electrical and/or mechanical subjects, and/or nationally recognized apprenticeships in an engineering discipline.
  3. Proven experience working within the food industry, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  4. Possess Steam utilization and boiler house training certification.
  5. Health and Safety/Basic Food Hygiene trained.
  6. Experience in managing contractors on-site, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  7. Computer literate, with a working knowledge of MS Office and a PPM system.
  8. Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings/manuals.
