Job Title: Adults Lawyer

Job Purpose:

To provide expert legal advice, guidance, and representation to customers of Legal Services, with a focus on Adult Social Care. This role involves managing a personal caseload, providing advocacy, and attending meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a personal caseload, providing expert legal advice, support, and advocacy to customers.
  2. Act on behalf of customers in legal proceedings and attend meetings as required.
  3. Comply with professional standards, training requirements, and internal protocols.
  4. Maintain awareness of legal developments and practice issues that impact work, practice, or service delivery.
  5. Identify changes in law and practice relevant to the post and contribute to policy development, practice, and business efficiencies.
  6. Provide professional supervision and support to other officers in Legal Services.
  7. Develop and maintain knowledge of allocated legal disciplines.
  8. Work proactively, flexibly, and collaboratively to achieve continuous service improvements.
  9. Deputise for Senior Solicitors as necessary.
  10. Maintain relationships with government departments, professional bodies, and other organisations to promote the Council's interests.
  11. Act as a professional exemplar in carrying out duties with a 'can do' attitude.

Education and Knowledge:

  1. A qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate.
  2. An understanding of statutory and governance frameworks relating to Local Authorities.
