Petroineos Refining and Trading is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to join our Offsites team at our Grangemouth site on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, maintain, fault find, overhaul, and improve instrument and electrical plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable manufacturing processes.
- Perform all executable work in compliance with RAP Net permits, work packs, procedures, and method statements.
- Participate in technical appraisals of new Work Orders and Service Requests to diagnose remediation scopes.
- Evaluate and communicate fault finding investigation results to define the most appropriate solution.
- Promote and undertake predictive/preventive maintenance of equipment to increase reliability and availability.
- Report delays and significant issues to the Supervisor to maximize productivity and improve maintenance processes.
- Liaise with external suppliers and third parties to identify spare parts, drawings, and specialist tooling.
- Provide proactive daily feedback to the Supervisor or Asset Scheduler on progress and completion of planned and emergent work scopes.
- Complete required QA and Work Pack documentation, including job reports, check sheets, and instrumentation reports.
- Execute IT software system expectations, including failure codes, job reports, and work order progression and completion.
- Create or update maintenance documentation and request updates to master documentation as required.
- Ensure daily workshop consumables and PPE are stocked and replenished as needed.
- Develop personal competence and training, and engage in the annual appraisal process.
- Work within plant conditions, including working at height, confined spaces, and using breathing apparatus.
- Be fully competent on all asset workshop machinery safe working practices.
- Cover at least one non-core activity, including COSHH Assessor, PUWER Assessor, Manual Handling Assessor, Apprentice Assessor, Safety Rep.
- Lead daily training of apprentices within their asset area.
- Complete a 5 Why investigation for CEB work scope.
- Participate in TBRA's and/or constructability sessions as requested.
- Flexibility to accommodate short-notice changes to working patterns to accommodate unplanned plant outages.
- Periods of shift work required to accommodate TAR outages.
- Periods of secondment within other site teams, including TAR, Reliability, or Maintenance Improvement.
- Periods of training and stand-in for Supervisor.
- Periods of supervision of contractors while working alongside each other.
- Formal Instrument/Electrical Apprenticeship.
- Ability to read detailed technical drawings/diagrams, P&IDs, Electrical Schematics Drawings, Instrumentation Loop Drawings.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of working on a top-tier COMAH site.
- IT literacy and proficiency in computer systems.
- Experience of Maximo CMMS.
- Current driving license preferred.
