Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

About the Role:

We are looking for a passionate and committed individual to deliver high-quality teaching in Mathematics and English to students at various levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching Functional Skills and a commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills in Maths and English lessons to students.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group tuition, tailored to meet individual learning needs and promote student progress.
  • Assess students' progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement and academic success.
  • Support students with additional needs, ensuring all students have equal access to the curriculum and a positive learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and achievements, providing valuable insights for future teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience and meet the students' educational needs, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Contribute to the development of learning materials and resources, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and professional development as required, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
Requirements:
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, PGDE, or Cert Ed is desirable.
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills in Maths and English, with a strong subject knowledge and understanding of curriculum requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, with a valid DBS registered on the Update Service or the willingness to apply for one.
