The Lead for Strategic Financial Planning (Cost Optimization) is integral to enhancing HMRC's financial strategies, focusing on the optimization of CDIO's operational costs, crafting cost reduction initiatives, and supervising the automation of diverse reporting mechanisms.
This role is accountable for the precise and prompt provision of financial data, analytical insights, and strategic recommendations to guide decision-making throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with senior management, finance teams, and various stakeholders to promote financial clarity, responsibility, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As the Lead for Strategic Financial Planning (Cost Optimization), your duties will include:
- Leading, managing, and nurturing a diverse team of finance professionals, along with broader CDIO Finance leadership.
- Overseeing Staff Time Activity Recording (S.T.A.R) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including the management of hosting and licensing.
- Driving Cost Optimization strategies and integrating these practices into the CDIO Finance function.
- Supervising the formulation of a cost reduction strategy, monitoring agreed initiatives, and spearheading new projects.
- Leading the automation of CDIO tools and broader HMRC operations.
- Maintaining a comprehensive list of risks and opportunities that may impact performance.
Essential Qualifications
- Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in financial modeling techniques.
- Expertise in data analysis and interpretation.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a comparable Cost Optimization or analytical role.
- Familiarity with relevant financial software and tools.
- Outstanding interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic environment.
