Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Commercial Gas Technician with a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical building services installations. As a reputable member of the JIB, Gilks (Nantwich) Ltd has been delivering exceptional commercial electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance, testing, and inspection services across the nation for over six decades, establishing a strong foundation of trust and innovation.
Training and Development: We prioritize the growth of our workforce by investing significantly in training and development for both new and seasoned professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of commercial gas tasks at client locations.
- Execute plumbing, heating, and minor ventilation projects.
- Diagnose faults in heating systems effectively.
- Conduct reactive maintenance tasks on-site.
- Service commercial gas boilers and overhead gas radiant heaters.
- Maintain commercial gas catering equipment.
Qualifications:
- Qualified in both Domestic and Commercial Gas.
- Demonstrated experience in diagnosing heating system faults.
- Possess an NVQ / City & Guilds qualification in building services or plumbing.
- Hold a valid CSCS card.
- Be Non-Domestic Gas Safe certified.
- Have a full UK driving licence.
Additional Skills: While not mandatory, having OFTEC, IPAF, and PASMA certifications would be beneficial, as would an SSSTS card, asbestos awareness, and first aid training. Experience with LPG in both domestic and commercial settings is advantageous, though training can be provided.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate of £50, commensurate with experience (equivalent to an annual salary of £43,000).
- Potential for overtime opportunities compensated at 1.5x or 2x the hourly rate.
- Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with paid 42 hours per week.
- Permanent contract with 32 days of annual leave, including bank holidays.
