About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Butetown Medical Practice. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide essential support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy services, including blood sample collection and processing
  • Supporting the practice nurse and GPs with the management of chronic disease clinics, including patient assessments and care planning
  • Undertaking ECGs and other clinical procedures as required
  • Providing HealthCare Checks, including measuring and recording patient data, such as height, weight, blood pressure, and lifestyle information
  • Assisting with immunizations and participating in NHS seasonal health campaigns, such as flu vaccinations
  • Administering injections, including B12, pneumonia, and shingles vaccinations, following training and guidance
  • Wound care and dressing, including cleaning and dressing wounds, and applying dressings as required
  • Chaperoning patients during clinical procedures, as needed
  • Stock ordering and management, including ensuring fridges are cleaned and stocked routinely
  • Using clinical IT systems to record patient data and manage clinical procedures
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Removing clinical waste and replacing sharps bins, following established guidelines
  • Developing excellent interpersonal skills and time management, to meet the demands of the role and adapt to a changing environment

Requirements

  • Education and Qualifications: Healthcare qualification or equivalent level
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in clinical IT systems
  • Phlebotomy certificate and previous experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Relevant experience working in primary care, with a strong understanding of clinical procedures and patient care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to patients and colleagues
  • Ability to follow procedures, policies, and guidelines, with a strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality
  • Personal Qualities: Enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
