Job Summary

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced individuals to join our team of Front of House Ushers at the Royal Opera House. As a Front of House Usher, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our audiences and visitors, ensuring a world-class experience with every visit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service, responding to queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follow daily operational and health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our audiences and staff.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive environment, promoting diversity and equality for all colleagues and visitors.
  • Process transactions accurately, handling cash and credit card payments, and reconciling takings and stock.
  • Utilize technology, including point-of-sale software and ticket scanners, to efficiently manage front-of-house operations.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, providing support and assistance as needed.

Availability

As a Front of House Usher, you will work a flexible schedule, with three shifts per week, rostered in advance. Each shift will be at least 4 hours long, with the possibility of working additional shifts during busy periods. You must be available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional daytime shifts.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customer-facing roles, with a strong track record of delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in point-of-sale software and other relevant systems.
  • Ability to work in a darkened environment, with extended periods of work in our auditoria.

Interview Process

Candidates must be available to attend an Assessment Centre in person at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Provisional dates and times will be advised ahead of the Assessment Centre.
