Community Director

Job Summary:
The Community Director is a key member of the Residential Services team at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. This live-in professional is responsible for assisting in the management of the Residential Services program, supervising Resident Advisors, and coordinating student and staff development and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Evaluation: Supervise 10-15 Resident Advisors in multiple residence halls, conduct performance evaluations, and provide support and guidance to students and staff.
- Programming and Events: Coordinate and supervise programming efforts, including theme housing and living learning communities, to address the needs of students and departmental goals.
- Conduct and Crisis Management: Administer the residence hall conduct system, meet with students and staff to follow up on disciplinary incidents, and serve as an administrative hearing officer for residence hall conduct cases.
- Housing Operations: Assist with housing-related operations, including occupancy reporting, room changes, and billing process.
- On-Call Response: Serve as a member of the residential services on-call group and provide active duty coverage during the on-call rotation.
- Professional Development: Participate in the Community Director Skill Advancement series, focusing on supervision, community development, leadership development, and social justice/diversity concepts.
- Other Duties: Assist with summer conferences, serve on university-wide committees, and contribute to the overall community through understanding of social justice and diversity concepts.
Requirements:
- Education: Master's Degree in college student personnel/higher education administration or related area preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of residence hall experience preferred.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
