Coastal Engineering Opportunity

AECOM is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our coastal engineering team as an apprentice. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from coastal policy and management to design and construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement coastal management strategies, including SMPs and StAR/OBC, using current Defra and EA FCERM guidance.
  • Conduct coastal hydrodynamic and flood modeling using the MIKE software suite.
  • Perform overtaking assessments using the Eurotop manual.
  • Design and inspect coastal protection and sea defense structures, including revetments, rock armor, breakwaters, and embankments.
  • Develop economic appraisals and business cases for coastal projects.
  • Conduct wider benefit assessments, carbon, and sustainability assessments in the coastal environment.
  • Provide coastal and marine input to EIAs.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 'C/4' or above, including Mathematics and English.
  • Three A-Levels, including Maths and a physical science, at grade 'C' or above.
  • Some work experience or shadowing in an engineering environment would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrate an interest and desire to pursue a career in coastal engineering.
  • Show an aptitude towards software-based engineering and drawing.
  • Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
