Your Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise in data engineering practices to internal teams and clients.

  • Lead the recruitment of other engineers and support the professional development of colleagues, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of our Data and Engineering communities, driving business growth and innovation.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, developing technical bids and proposals that showcase our expertise and value proposition.
  • Promote our Data team externally through thought leadership activities, such as writing articles, delivering workshops, and participating in conferences.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Data Engineering Lead who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Excellent experience delivering in Python and at least one other core language.
  • Strong experience of SQL and relational databases, with NoSQL databases also desirable.
  • Solid experience of at least one Cloud provider, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment and with/in the public sector.
  • Strong experience working with different data formats, such as CSV, JSON, and XML.
  • Ability to build reliable data pipelines and possess a broader knowledge of IT, including security and networking.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and with test-driven development and/or behaviour-driven development.
  • Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) experience.
  • Ability to operate as a technical leader on complex projects, manage stakeholder expectations, and influence decisions.
  • Coaching and guiding others on the best way to achieve an optimal solution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate in both technical and non-technical terms depending on the audience.
