About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist (Concrete Chemist) to join our team at Concrete4Change. As a key member of our R&D team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for carbon capture and utilization in concrete.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct research to address fundamental scientific questions related to concrete chemistry and carbon capture.
  • Develop and manage the concrete chemistry laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with construction engineers and chemists to leverage cement and concrete chemistry knowledge for carbon capture and utilization in concrete.
  • Evaluate CCU techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials.
Requirements
  • 5 years of post-PhD experience leading independent research, with a strong track record of designing and conducting research addressing fundamental scientific questions.
  • Experience in laboratory setup, HSE requirements, equipment specification development, and procurement.
  • Understanding of carbonation mechanisms, CO2 uptake, and concrete performance over various life stages.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete and cement chemistry, R&D experience in developing low-carbon concrete.
Desirable Skills
  • PI or co-PI on academic research projects or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Experience in developing proposal/bid writing, computational chemistry, analysis, and simulation of synthetic materials.
  • Experience in carbon capture, utilization, and storage, patent writing, and grant proposal development.
