Role Overview

Position: Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Agency Temp to Perm, £95 Per Day

Are you passionate about fostering a nurturing and supportive atmosphere in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) environment? As a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of Primary Students facing Moderate Learning and Attachment Difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting assigned students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities in navigating their daily classes, ensuring their Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP) are meticulously maintained and updated for the benefit of all staff and leadership.
  • Providing daily support in academic, sporting, and outdoor activities, while encouraging students to develop independent coping strategies for personal and social challenges.
  • Fostering effective Speech and Language Communication to build confidence in each student.
  • Engaging with parents and guardians to cultivate strong relationships through regular communication, whether in person or via phone.
  • Leading Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) initiatives to facilitate open communication with students who may be struggling with specific tasks.
Qualifications and Skills

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience in a SEN Teaching Assistant role, particularly with students aged 11-16 with special needs.
  • Patience and a consistent approach to providing high-quality support and care.
  • Emotional and physical resilience to adapt to the dynamic needs of students with Special Needs. Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational fields are beneficial but not mandatory.
