ROLE OVERVIEW

The Research Communications Specialist is a pivotal role within the Research and Innovation Services department, collaborating closely with Global Marketing and Business Services, as well as the broader academic community.

This position is essential in enhancing the visibility of Northumbria University as a leading research institution. The successful candidate will engage with key academic stakeholders, including Interdisciplinary Research Theme leads, Peaks of Research Excellence leads, and designated research project leaders, to craft and disseminate external communications regarding research initiatives to both professional and general audiences.

In addition to promoting the university's research endeavors internally and externally, the postholder will offer daily professional guidance, direction, and support to the research community, while partnering with university services to establish best practices in research communication.

The role also involves assisting in the organization and management of significant institutional research and knowledge exchange events.


TEAM INSIGHT

The Research and Innovation Services (RIS) team is dedicated to providing specialized support to Northumbria's research community throughout the entire research grant lifecycle, reinforcing the university's status as a research-intensive modern institution.

The Research Policy team encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, enabling research through the provision of researcher development opportunities, leading research culture and quality initiatives, offering guidance on research ethics and integrity, and managing the ethics review system.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a solid understanding of communication methodologies, familiarity with various communication campaign strategies, experience across diverse communication styles, strong digital skills, and the capability to foster effective relationships with key stakeholders.
