About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join our team at the boohoo group. As a key member of our Garment Technology team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of our garments, working closely with our Buying and Design teams to drive commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fit sessions for high-profile product areas, balancing speed and quality to meet commercial targets.
  • Support the Technical team and Tech Manager in managing fit sessions and product areas, mentoring junior team members and ensuring compliance with product safety and REACH legislation.
  • Liaise with design, buying, and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development, reducing costs and improving quality.
  • Work directly with suppliers and the technical team to improve areas of weakness, including in-house training and development of the Technical team.
  • Ensure compliance with product safety and REACH legislation, assessing risk, advising on relevant testing, and recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently.
  • Contribute to initiatives to reduce customer returns, promoting quality at all times while maintaining a strong commercial attitude.
  • Identify and manage new projects, feeding back to the Tech Manager and peers with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practices.
About You
  • Previous experience in a senior role in a similar fast-paced environment is essential.
  • A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential.
  • Able to work both individually and as part of a team, inspiring and motivating team members.
  • Multi-product experience, including fringe areas, with the ability to move between product areas.
  • Confident and strong individual, able to manage the team, expectations, and own fit sessions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.
  • Pattern cutting knowledge and practice is desirable, alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules.
  • Knowledge and experience of Gerber and/or similar pattern systems are essential.
  • Experience of working directly with factories, and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control.
  • First-class communication skills, both with the QA Manager and wider team, are essential.
  • Keen interest in overseas travel is essential.
  • Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Strong time-management skills, able to prioritize tasks and change direction with agility.
  • Confident using Outlook, Excel, and Word, with a keenness to expand skill set as the role demands.
