Job Title: Principal Engineer

Location: Flexible working arrangements available across various locations, including Barrow, Filton, Frimley, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, and Manchester.

Salary: Negotiable based on experience.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Principal Engineer to join our Capability Engineering team, responsible for developing and sustaining the capability of the Product Safety domain. This role involves working with specialist Product Safety engineering teams to develop resource solutions, SQEP assessments, and training and development intervention requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Product Safety engineering teams to identify areas of strategic and tactical risk.
  2. Develop and implement Capability Management plans to ensure engineering capability is sustained, developed, and managed in line with programme requirements.
  3. Provide regular updates on the status of Product Safety capabilities across the Astute/Dreadnought and SSNA programmes.
  4. Engage with stakeholders within the Product Safety and other Engineering Domains to gather information and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Produce training and development intervention requirements to support the development of Product Safety skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

Essential:

  1. STEM Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as Safety or Environmental.
  2. Chartered status or evidence of working towards Chartership.
  3. Strong stakeholder management skills and experience.

Desirable:

  1. Experience working within a large engineering company.
