About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Functional Safety Expert to join our team at Select Engineering. As a central Functional Safety expert, you will be responsible for leading the Functional Safety activities across a broad range of consultancy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Functional Safety activities as appropriate to the project, working closely with System Engineers to ensure delivery of high-quality Functional Safety documentation.
  • Generate the necessary Functional Safety documentation for the project, including Item Definition, Fault-tree analysis, Hazard analysis, Functional and Technical safety concepts and requirements, and validation plans.
  • Conduct and lead Functional Safety reviews as needed, both internally with the project team and with customers.
Requirements
  • Minimum BSc or BEng (2:1) in Automotive, Electrical or equivalent Engineering.
  • Professional engineering experience, ideally in Systems or Safety Engineering.
  • Experience of leading and delivering Functional Safety activities according to ISO26262 for production automotive projects.
  • Experience in conducting/leading FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, HARA activities.
  • Experience in development of one or more of: automotive powertrain control systems, high-voltage electrical power supplies, Hybrid vehicles, ADAS features or similar technical fields.
  • Good communication skills.
  • English language (spoken and written).
  • Driving licence valid for driving in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Project Management.
  • Conducted ISO26262 Training for other engineers.
  • Member of an appropriate professional body (SAE, IET, IMechE).
  • Certified in Functional Safety by recognised entities, e.g. TÜV.
