Detailed Role Description and Main Duties

A significant aspect of this Imaging role is to improve the quality and efficiency of the stress echocardiography service. This involves conducting in-reach reviews of patients admitted with chest pain, identifying those who may benefit from prompt (same-day) stress echocardiography or alternative imaging modalities, and coordinating with relevant services to ensure swift assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients as necessary.

The Echocardiography Department comprises a robust team of BSE-accredited Cardiac Physiologists, supported by three consultants, conducting approximately 18,000 standard and complex studies (including transoesophageal, stress, and bubble echocardiography) annually. The department actively trains Specialty Registrars tailored to their individual experience and needs, and has recently achieved re-accreditation with BSE.
