Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education is recruiting Behaviour Support Workers to work in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) settings based in Wakefield. These schools cater to young people aged 11-16 who experience significant SEMH needs and may have been excluded from mainstream education.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with challenging behaviour in either education or care settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour in SEMH and PRU settings
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and external agencies
  • Respond quickly and effectively to challenging situations while maintaining a calm and supportive presence
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or those in alternative provision
  • Strong, resilient, and patient approach to supporting students with complex behavioural difficulties
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external agencies
