About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Legal Services Litigation Team at Torbay Council. As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing expert legal advice and support to the council and its residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance to the council and its residents on housing law and related matters.
  • Conduct complex legal research and analysis to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Represent the council in court and other legal proceedings, as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, including council officers and elected members.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in the law and policy developments, and provide training and guidance to colleagues as needed.
Requirements
  • Admitted and practising solicitor, legal executive (fellow) or barrister with up to 3 years PQE.
  • High level of knowledge of the law and procedure within the specialist area.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
