The successful candidates will be integrated into the analytical team within the Retail Policy division, part of the Markets Directorate. Our portfolio is dedicated to safeguarding and empowering consumers through policy development, fostering innovative business models, and engaging with a broad spectrum of stakeholders to gather insights into industry dynamics and consumer requirements. Our team has embraced an agile delivery approach, enabling us to work efficiently while prioritizing user needs.
We are currently concentrating on several key initiatives aimed at delivering tangible enhancements for both current and future consumers, particularly those in vulnerable situations. Recent projects undertaken by the analytical team include advocating for changes in retail market structures, conducting impact evaluations for significant policy initiatives aimed at enhancing customer service, and performing detailed analyses of market monitoring data to inform regulatory compliance assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide clear, concise, and actionable insights that support the policy development process.
- Analyze complex concepts and navigate uncertainty to address challenges and contribute to effective policy recommendations.
- Evaluate the reliability and relevance of evidence, providing objective guidance.
- Perform high-quality analyses to establish the evidence base and impact assessments integral to the policy development process.
- Communicate the benefits, challenges, and trade-offs associated with policy proposals to senior colleagues, supported by evidence.
- Create both internal and external documentation, ensuring analysis is presented in an accessible manner for non-expert audiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other analytical and policy experts to define and agree on analytical contributions for policy options.
- Work collaboratively with peers and other teams to support, quality assure, and enhance the analytical capabilities of others.
- Proven experience in delivering qualitative and/or quantitative analyses, with a focus on analytical quality assurance.
- A degree in mathematics, science, computer science, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex issues to non-expert audiences and stakeholders at various levels.
- Ability to foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating constructive and transparent engagement.
- Knowledge of the energy sector and regulatory frameworks, including a commercial understanding of the energy landscape and/or regulatory and competition economics.
