Job Description

Spencer Clarke Group is seeking a highly skilled Close Down Accountant to join our team in partnership with a local authority in the South West of England.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the Council's audited statutory Statement of Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the Council's closure of accounts process, directing resources in producing the statutory Statement of Accounts and other related returns.
  • Lead the annual closing of the HRA account.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the public and private sectors through active involvement in regional and national networks, setting strategies to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
  • Fully qualified CCAB Accountant with experience of working in a complex organisation.
  • Evidence of work-related continuing professional development.
  • Understanding of the current key developments in local authority finance.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Close Down Accountant who can provide strategic financial planning and execution expertise to our client.
