About the Role
We are on the lookout for a Junior Engineer to contribute to substantial upstream, refinery, or petrochemical projects in both domestic and international arenas. This position will be based in a flexible location with opportunities for global travel.
The role reports hierarchically to the Engineering Manager and operationally to the Project Engineering Manager, Principal & Senior CIT Engineers, without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Internally, the position requires collaboration with Functional Managers and various engineering disciplines (such as Technology, Process, and Engineering Design), as well as non-engineering sectors (including project controls, planning, procurement, and construction). Externally, interactions will be with clients, subcontractors, vendors, partners, authorities, and licensors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate under the explicit guidance of CIT Engineering Team members.
- Interpret and comprehend Engineering design drawings and documentation.
- Cultivate a foundational understanding of the project scope of work.
- Familiarize oneself with corporate policies and standards.
- Collect necessary documents and information to support CIT engineering design and deliverable activities.
- Build a basic understanding of the CIT design scope of work.
- Gain insight into vendor drawings.
- Understand discipline drawings.
- Learn about the roles and responsibilities of other disciplines (e.g., Structural, Civil, Electrical, Controls, and Piping).
- Acquire knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to the project and equipment requirements (e.g., ASME, ANSI, and OSHA regulations) during design execution.
- Utilize 2D CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and Microstation.
- Generate CIT calculations using approved software and tools.
- Create CIT Deliverables using authorized software and tools.
- Follow established CAD implementation procedures.
Typical Background and Experience Required:
Candidates must possess:
- Experience in a mechanical engineering design environment or similar industrial settings.
- HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong communication skills, characterized by tact and clarity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Membership in a relevant engineering institution.
- Proficiency in 2D CAD software—AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
- Experience in producing 3D models.
- Practical site experience.
- Familiarity with UK project environments.
