Information Security Specialist

GIOS Technology is seeking an Information Security Specialist to join our dedicated team.
Security Clearance Requirement: Active DV Clearance is essential
Role Responsibilities:
- The Information Security Specialist will be part of a well-established security unit tasked with the design, implementation, and upkeep of operational cybersecurity measures. This role involves proactive, risk-based monitoring of critical systems to detect both internal and external cyber threats.
Key Duties:
- Develop and integrate security event monitoring and incident management services.
- Respond to security incidents as they arise as a member of the incident response team.
- Establish metrics and dashboards to enhance visibility of the enterprise infrastructure.
- Utilize the SOAR platform to facilitate playbook automation and case management, optimizing team processes and tools.
- Create documentation to ensure the consistency and standardization of security operating procedures.
- Enhance investigative techniques using the SOC's software tools to improve recognition opportunities for specific analyses.
- Maintain a security baseline in accordance with the latest threat intelligence and evolving trends.
- Engage in root cause analysis of incidents in collaboration with engineers across the organization.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on a wide array of information security standards and best practices.
- Offer strategic and tactical security advice, including the evaluation of technical control requirements.
- Participate in the CRM process.
- Collaborate with SOC engineers to keep security alert dashboards current, enabling the organization to respond effectively to incidents.
- Document, validate, and create operational processes and procedures to support the development of the SOC.
- Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cybersecurity infrastructure and key resources.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Elastic Stack.
- Experience with Enterprise ICS/network architectures and technologies.
- Knowledge of SIEM solutions, including the ability to identify, create, deploy, and tune use cases.
- Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain frameworks.
- Skilled in the use of virtualization software.
- Understanding of key security frameworks (e.g., ISO, NIST).
- Ability to document and report security incidents clearly and concisely.
- Experience in drafting Defense/Government documentation.
- Creation, development, and management of security alert dashboards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of Broad Spectrum Cyber Course (CompTIA Sec+, SANS SEC401 or SEC501 or equivalent).
- Completion of SIEM Design, Architecture and Analyst Course (SANS SEC455 or SEC555 or equivalent).
