Position Overview

Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment is representing a prominent client seeking a skilled and motivated legal professional in the construction sector.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic newly qualified or junior legal advisor eager to enhance their expertise in a commercial construction environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Delivering legal counsel and assistance to the organization’s contracting and service departments.
  • Preparing and negotiating various construction-related documents, such as building agreements, sub-contracts, consultant engagements, and collateral warranties.
  • Supporting the management of contentious issues, including coordination with external advisors and counsel as necessary.
  • Staying informed about advancements in construction law and the broader industry, providing insights to the organization regarding potential impacts.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of the department's legal precedents and templates.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with a strong interest in construction law.
  • Newly qualified or with up to 3 years of post-qualification experience. Experience in a construction-related role is preferred. Familiarity with JCT and NEC construction contract frameworks is beneficial.
  • Strong commercial acumen, drafting and negotiation capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools is essential.
  • Must demonstrate motivation, adaptability, and a genuine interest in construction-related issues.
  • Ability to foster relationships and communicate effectively to influence decision-making, thereby minimizing risk and achieving business goals.
