SCL Engineer Job Description

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled SCL Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of civil engineering projects, specifically tunnel construction, on the HS2 project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the construction team's implementation of design and process, recording and closing out NCRs.
  • Document and report on construction teams' usage of toolbox items.
  • Confirm compliance with RESS and record SCL cycle for feedback to Senior SCL Engineer.
  • Prepare daily reports for issue to Senior SCL Engineer, including contractor's excavation progress.
  • Visually inspect applied sprayed concrete quality.
  • Understand Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements, ensuring implementation on the project.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have proven experience of large-scale civil engineering projects within SCL construction, knowledgeable of SCL works, and competent to agree construction processes, interpret records, and observations during the course of the works. Previous SCL Inspection experience is essential.

Applicants must be qualified with a Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification (minimum of an HNC/HND, preferably BEng or higher), hold a CSCS Card, and SMSTS or SSSTS certification. The ideal candidate will be a team player, excellent communicator, and have relevant experience of SCL construction and appreciation of practical application of interfacing with rail systems and others.

Rate circa £80 per hour
This is a contract role determined to be INSIDE IR35.
