Position: Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic / Public Service Vehicle Mechanic


A prominent transportation organization is offering permanent positions for a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic / Public Service Vehicle Mechanic. The role involves ensuring the upkeep of company vehicles and facilities in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Diagnosing and Repairing Defects:** Identify and rectify issues related to engines, gearboxes, chassis, axles, steering, and braking systems. Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment pertinent to the vehicles serviced in your facility.

2. **Welding and Fabrication:** Perform welding (both gas and MIG) and gas cutting, provided you possess the necessary qualifications or training.

3. **Vehicle Maintenance:** Conduct repairs to meet both company and statutory requirements. Prepare vehicles for annual inspections and service them according to company and manufacturer specifications.

4. **Documentation and Compliance:** Maintain accurate records in line with established quality procedures. Uphold excellent housekeeping standards and adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
Experience in either Public Service Vehicle or Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance is essential. Candidates should ideally hold City and Guilds qualifications (Parts 1, 2, and 3) in Motor Vehicle Craft Studies or an equivalent BTEC qualification. Apprenticeship training is preferred.
