Key Responsibilities:- Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for a small, multidisciplinary project design team, producing high-quality design solutions that adhere to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Design Development: Oversee the development of designs in SolidWorks software utilising 3D CAD, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Analysis and Testing: Use conventional analysis and computer simulation to lead and collaborate with the team in doing classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration, and carry out laboratory testing to confirm that design outputs match design inputs.
- Reporting and Documentation: Take charge of organising and creating engineering reports to support failure analysis, new product designs, and any other official paperwork needed to meet client requirements.
- Collaboration and Support: Work together with larger engineering groups to include drive, control, and electrical systems into equipment designs, and offer assistance to the field engineering, test, and production engineering teams.
- Design Support: Help and support the sales team in creating quotes, proposals, and other sales collateral, and assist project management in providing design activity time estimates and monitoring advancement.
- Technical Expertise: Recognise how to apply procedures for casting, fabrication, moulding, and machining, and possess familiarity with a 3D CAD program, preferably SolidWorks.
- Leadership and Management: Capacity to oversee workload and design output while leading a project design team's technical efforts, and experience of working in the Defence or related sectors, particularly in R&D and manufacturing.
