Consultant in Acute General Medicine and Rheumatology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Acute General Medicine and Rheumatology to join our team at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be based mainly at the Horton General Hospital, with sessions at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. They will be part of a consultant workforce with a reputation for excellence, working in a flexible and modular way that allows for ongoing career development.

The AGM department has recently transformed the way in which consultant-led care is delivered across the inpatient areas, with a dedicated EAU consultant, ward-based medical teams, and increased Ambulatory care. The Trust is a clinically led organisation, and AGM consultants play key senior management roles.

We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues who are skilled in the delivery of acute medical care and the interface with the Emergency Department and other hospital specialties. The post offers integration with a large rheumatology department, which has strong academic links to the University of Oxford.

The Horton General Hospital is located in the market town of Banbury, serving the growing population of North Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. We work in a collaborative and supportive environment, with opportunities for teaching and leadership roles.

The Trust is one of the NHS Digital Exemplar sites, and we are committed to reducing paper usage. New colleagues are expected to support this ongoing work, with training provided. The appointments are on a full-time basis, but we welcome applications from those who wish to job share or work less than full-time.
